Hello,

I work primarily in watercolors and have been focusing on watercolors for about 20 years now.
All of my paintings start with a drawing from my sketchbook. I add realistic elements and/or curvilinear or geometric shapes. Sometimes my paintings take a different direction from my first idea.

Watercolors work for me because of their transparency and the instant gratification I get. Watercolors can be vibrant or soft and they can have textures or smooth gradations of colors. It's a versatile medium. I try to have different layers of color, patterns, shapes and details. I want to show the "everything of my emotions, the energy of life or my own moods. Nature and colors are constant inspirations. I love combining colors so they pop. Striving to combine all these elements into my pieces with something that pleases me is one of my goals.

I love color, detail and pattern and have been drawing my "swirly" shapes all my life. To me, they feel sensual or emotional.

Incorporating elements of collage, layers of patterns, color and nature, my paintings use a highly detailed visual language drawn from a continually evolving range of influences, including, psychedelic art, graphic design, other artists and nature.

I grew up in San Francisco in the 60's and 70's, lived in the Bay Area until the 80's when I moved to the East Bay and then to Northern California.

Artists who inspire me are Peter Max, Maxfield Parrish, Alponse Mucha, Wassily
Kandinsky,  Rex Ray and Daniel Marriem.

Please enjoy my work and thanks for visiting. I'd be happy to hear your thoughts and comments.
